David Hoffman is a composer and recording artist living in Southeastern Pennsylvania. His music covers many genres including; classical, orchestral, rock and even soundtrack music. His influences are equally as varied and cover the gamut of artists from Mozart to Nine Inch Nails. David records his own music, maintaining full artistic and creative control, while at the same time, working with professional studios for mixing and mastering.
David’s Roots
David first started playing the piano at the age of six. He was inspired, interestingly enough, after seeing the movie The Jazz Singer staring Neil Diamond. Soon after seeing that movie, he asked his parents for a piano.
Through a Herculean effort, his father and five other men hauled an old battle tank of a piano, purchased from a local church for $50, into his basement. David took up classical lessons for the next twelve years and quickly became a virtuoso. At his very first lesson, he played his first piece, sight unseen, perfectly, to be met with a resounding “hot dog!” from his teacher.
Synthesizers and his Early Work
Throughout the 1980′s David adopted synthesizers such as the Ensoniq ESQ-1, SQ-80, ASR-10 and TS 10, adapting quickly to harness the power they offered a musician. David joined and formed various bands throughout those years, eventually settling in as an indpendent solo artist.
Present Day
Today, David enjoys the luxury and benefits of a home based studio, harnessing incredibly powerful software from companies like Cakewalk, Native Instruments, Audio Bro and IK Multimedia. Using tools such as these, the only constraint left to the modern day electronic musician, is their own creativity.
