Guy Blakeslee is the brainchild behind the kitschy rock sound of Entrance. Blending threads of glam like T. Rex with Big Star/Cheap Trick-styled pop hooks, Entrance offers something more tangible compared to Blakeslees days spent working with the Convocation Of... in Baltimore. As a resident of Chicago, Entrance became a regular performer at the Hideout, a local bar that hosted a Monday night cabaret with Zwans Matt Sweeney. For 18 months, Entrance honed his soulful indie rock. Tiger Style picked up on his alluring appeal and inked him a deal. Entrances debut, The Kingdom of Heaven Must Be Taken By Storm, appeared in early 2002, and tours with Devendra Banhart and Cat Power followed into the spring. Before 2003 came to a close, Entrance released the Honey Moan EP. 2004 saw the release of Wandering Stranger, Blakeslees first album for Fat Possum. For his fourth album, Prayer of Death, released in fall 2006, Blakeslee signed to Tee Pee and joined musician Paz Lenchantin (Zwan, A Perfect Circle) for his most ambitious release of his career to date.
