The major French pop star of the mid-'90s, Pascal Obispo sold consistently beginning with his 1993 debut, Plus Que Tout Au Monde. Noted arranger Jean-Claude Vannier (who had worked with Serge Gainsbourg) helped out on 1995's Un Jour Comme Aujourd'hui, and the album became a platinum success story. With the release of his third LP Superflu (the title is French for "superfluous"), Obispo sold over half a million copies in France alone.
