by Chris TrueKiwi pop-folk combo Goldenhorse began its formation upon the meeting of vocalist Kristen Morrell and guitarist and vocalist Geoff Maddock. Upon recruiting Ben King, Vincent Hine, and Nick Gaffaney, Goldenhorse became a reality and started building a following and fine tuning their sound. Eventually, the band released their first album, Riverhead, in 2002. Bolstered by strong singles, Riverhead peaked at number one on the national album charts a year after release, and stayed on the charts for just over a year. Their follow up release saw a quicker turn around for the band, chart-wise, as Out of the Moon debuted at number two, with strong showing for singles "Run Run Run," and "Fish." The five piece would then go on to tour Europe, and in 2008 Goldenhorse released their third album, the top forty seller Reporter.
