KOVLO, with the release of their first record, “A new position for the second degree burnt”, in September 2005, became one of the most interesting and acclaimed post-rock bands of southern Switzerland and northern Italy. The record has been sold all over the world (USA, Canada, Japan, Russia among others). KOVLO are born in Canton Ticino, Switzerland. Stefano Chiassai (guitar), Giona Mattei (bass), Alessandro Del Fiore (piano and keyboards) and Alessio Galupi (drums) come from very different experiences, but the desire to come together to create something special is very strong. In June 2007, after the recording of the second album, “I'm so happy on this boat”, Donatello Laurenti (guitar) joins permanently the band. The music of KOVLO could be defined as post-rock, with influences from noise-rock and even jazz and prog, creating new, original and different sound journeys starting from these music tradition. The sound of the band moves between quite, intimate and mysterious soundscapes, and hypnotic, furious and violent noise explosions, in the tradition of bands like Mogwai, GSYBE!, Shellac, Mono, Explosion in the sky. From October 2005 to April 2007 play live, promoting their first record, all over Southern Switzerland and Northern Italy. As it happens with most post-rock bands, the live experience is essential to discover and enjoy the music of KOVLO. During their live shows, KOVLO are able to express at the best the tension and power of their sound, with its psychedelic and hypnotic soundscapes. In April 2007, KOVLO recorded their second album at the RedHouseRecordings studio in Italy, one of the best recording studios in Italy (where Steve Albini also works as a producer). The artistic producer of the record is Rob Ellis (producer and musician of PJ Harvey and Marianne Faihfull, collaborator of Placebo, Laika, Swell, and others). The sound engineer of the record is David Lenci (who worked with Blonde Redhead, June of 44, Uzeda, Bonnie Prince Billy, Gianna Nannini, and others).
