original idea for the Kiddycar project began under the name Kriminal Bit in 1996 with Stefano Santoni, Paolo Ferri and others but the current band was established in the second half of 2005, after the meeting with the voice and writing style of Valentina Cidda and the entry in the band of Simon Chiappelli, so only Paolo Ferri and Stefano Santoni, the band’s artistic producer, remaining from the original group.The name of the band encapsulates the aim of describing an adult world through a child’s gaze, travelling along in a kid’s pedal car with the enchanted disenchantment of eyes that see and senses that go to the bottom of things, stripping the world of its exterior forms, recognizing existential pain but caressing it as they ride the stark unchangeable flow of events, like children playing while balancing on the edge of an abyss. The result of this journey into human feelings is a melancholy, impassioned, delicate bitterness that flowers and fades … but which settles lightly onto the bottom of the mind.Though difficult to place in the musical scene in its own country of origin, the band’s compositions nevertheless have the strong melodic power and intensity of harmonies that are undeniably rooted in history and the Italian musical tradition. This distinct feature is combined with a very international taste in sound, and fuels a universe that on the one hand makes the “Italian” part of the music light and airy, and on the other feeds into and strongly emphasizes the clearly internationally influenced component. After a first EP “Small Things” with Minuta Records in Switzerland, Kiddycar are now at their first CD “Forget About” (Seahorse Recordings - Distributed by Goodfellas - Edited by Fridge Italia). The same CD was produced and printed also in Japan from Xtal Records – Tokyo and it’s out in Japan from November 2007. From January 2008 Forget About will be distributed in French Switzerland from Phenix Records. It is out now also the LP “How this word resounds”, a vinyl realized by Kiddycar in collaboration with Christian Rainer (limited edition by Fridge Records/Goodfellas). Each vinyl include a code for free mp3 downloading. (www.myspace.com/kiddycarchristianrainer) / In February 2008 Radio 1 Music propose Kiddycar among the artists they consider the best among their selection of Italian music in the categories pop, rock, soul and jazz, on the online website player of Eurosonic.net. Eurosonic is an entity forming part of the EBU, the Union of European Public Radio Stations, of which Radio 1 is an active member. / In March 2008 Kiddycar are officially invited by the Rai to hold a live concert on Friday, 7th March, as part of the Rai’s Friday evening concert programme, live from Hall A at the Rai Centre in Via Asiago, Rome. /Kiddycar are also between the finalists of Contest Scalo 76. Contest which has received a special recognition from Myspace International since it has been the Video Contest more watched in Europe. 62.000 visitors on the Scalo 76 myspace profile, 4000 registrations at the Contest, 19 selected - after a first selection - and three finalists, one winner, Sara Rados, with LA RICETTA, and two co-winners in the second place, The Actions, with THE REAL THING, and Kiddycar, with HUMAN LOGIC.
