Conjuring a virtual indie rock orchestra out of its two members, Bad Veins emerged from the Cincinnati scene in the late 2000s with a diverse sound slyly incorporating electro, space rock, new wave, goth, and shoegaze. Originally the solo project of singer/multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Davis, Bad Veins came together when Davis teamed up with kinetic percussionist Sebastian Schultz in 2006. After a slate of N.Y.C. shows, Bad Veins followed the long tradition of the CMJ breakout band when they wowed crowds at the magazine's festival in 2007. Two years later, the duo garnered universal praise for its self-titled Dangerbird debut. The Outliers EP followed in 2010, while The Mess We've Made arrived in 2012. In 2015, Bad Veins returned with their third full-length album, Mess Remade, which featured a reworking of the classic Muppets' songs "Rainbow Connection." ~ Jason Thurston
