Andy Bull is a 23 year old singer-songwriter from Sydney, Australia.
Andy Bull developed his love of music whilst growing up with his father who was a collector of keyboards on his travels, and had a keen interest in playing the piano. It wasn’t long until Andy himself developed this interest in the piano, and soon surpassed his father’s abilities.
As a new artist on the music scene in Sydney, his unique and “retro” lyrical style caught the eye of producer Tony Buchen in 2004. Tony, having worked with other successful alternative bands such as Blue King Brown, Macromantics and The Whitlams, realised quickly that it was this very style that demanded a different approach to recording, and experimented with older recording techniques such as analogue.
Wanting to develop Andy’s talent further, but still nurture his individual style, they then travelled together to New York City where they produced and mixed songs for a debut album at Jimi Hendrix’s iconic Electric Lady Studios.
Andy signed to Island Records, a part of Universal Music Australia, in 2007.
Although somewhat ‘underground’ as an artist, Andy has developed a keen following on MySpace through his regular and very personal blogs.
In 2007, Andy supported soul singer Joss Stone on her Australian tour and in 2008 increased in popularity by being played regularly by popular radio station Nova 96.9.
In 2008, Andy toured with Garage to V winners, Australian band Little Red. His first headlining national tour will commence in late 2008.
Andy’s debut single was released in August 2008. It is a 'coming of age' track called "Small Town Girl", from his debut self-titled album
