Alain is a film and concert composer who is as skillful with a baton as he is with a cello or a rock guitar.
Alain’s most recent work, a large scale melodic and symphonic score for the soon to be released Jackie Chan animated feature, The Legend of Silkboy, is poised to launch the next phase of Alain’s career into the stratosphere.
Alain’s introduction to music came at the age of five when his father gave him a guitar. By age 8 he was playing piano and, thanks to John Williams’ Star Wars music, Alain spent more time figuring out how to play film scores than his assigned pieces – the seeds of a lifetime’s passion were well and truly sown.
Alain spent his teenage years practicing guitar 10 hours a day, playing and recording with many rock and metal bands before transitioning to jazz and forming a jazz combo.
Unlike many composers who work in a purely digital, synth world, Alain is classically trained with a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance and composition and a Master’s Degree in composition.
To date Alain has scored 21 productions including the Leo nominated score for Echoes of an Epic recorded with the Russian State Symphony. He is the composer in residence for the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra and his collection of piano pieces, A Garden of Music, has received worldwide acclaim.
Alain is fluent in a multitude of musical styles. His varied training and experience, his rare talent for grand symphonic scores, combined with his passion for story, has firmly established him as an important new voice in the cinematic world.
Alain resides in British Columbia, Canada with his wife and two young sons.
