Ben Foster's contribution to music for film and television has often been behind the scenes, acting as orchestrator and conductor on many productions. The films he has worked on in this capacity have included "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "Alien Autopsy", "Death at a Funeral", "27 Dresses", "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" and "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging". He has also acted as the score composer for many European short films, including "Sea Monsters", "Dolls" and "Meat", and on a number of television commercials. He is perhaps better known for his contributions to British television, particular where he has partnered with Murray Gold. He orchestrated and conducted Gold's music for Doctor Who from Series Two, including the Christmas Specials, and has also taken to the podium to conduct a couple of Doctor Who concerts, the most recent being the Doctor Who Prom Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
Ben went on to serve as the main composer for "Torchwood", and the first Torchwood soundtrack album has been reviewed on mfiles. Ben was also the Chairman of the Judging Panel for the 2008 BBC Young Musician Of The Year Awards. The third season of Torchwood was broadcast on BBC1 on consecutive weekdays to great acclaim.
