Born Gold is the subversive electronic pop persona of Canadian Cecil Frena, formerly of Edmonton, Alberta's Gobble Gobble, which spawned the like-minded Purity Ring. Frena adopted the Born Gold moniker in 2011, issuing a handful of singles that were collected in his debut LP, Bodysongs. As with Gobble Gobble, Born Gold's live act is theatrical and interactive, incorporating objects like shovels and hockey helmets as instruments and encouraging audience participation. Little Sleepwalker, a moodier and more experimental work than Born Gold's debut, arrived in October 2012. ~ Heather Phares
