Fanny Matilda Dagmar Hamlin (born October 23, 1987 in Stockholm, Sweden), known professionally as Faye, is a Swedish singer, songwriter, and model. She is one of the original members of the Swedish pop group Play.
As a member of Play

Faye was selected to be in Play by the band's manager, Laila Bagge. Bagge held a nationwide talent search after finding Anna Sundstrand and Ana?s Lameche and chose Faye and her best friend Rosie Munter for her new girl group. Faye was considered to be the lead voice of Play and, as a mezzo-soprano, she was often heard singing the melody and doing the ad-libs in songs. Play sold over 1 million albums and toured North America along with popular teen artists, such as A-Teens, Aaron Carter and 'N Sync. Faye left Play in October 2003, and was replaced by Janet Leon, a 13-year-old singer from Gothenburg. In a statement to fans via the group's official website, she said:

"In autumn 2003, I chose to drop out of Play. The sense of feel lost, tired and alone had been around for a while, but it was in the autumn as I got fed up and took the decision to go home. Strangely enough, it was loneliness that was most evident towards the end, although I always had people around me, it was still short of securing the pillars. I was far from home and just wanted to be with family and friends. I chose to invest all my time in high school. Luckily, my mom helped me with applications to the music school Rytmus earlier this year. I had actually chosen to not go to school and instead continue with the song, but the application was sent and I have made admissions test and was accepted."

[edit] Play's reunion

In 2009, Swedish music group Play was reunited as a trio with Faye Hamlin, Ana?s Lameche, and a new member, Sanne Karlsson via the popular Swedish TV program, Made in Sweden. Whilst with Play they achieved a no.1 single, "Famous" and a top ten album Under My Skin. The comeback was a success, but since late September, Fanny had stopped making appearances with Play, nor going to promote their music as they were planning their comeback to the US.

[edit] Solo career

In January 2011, it was officially announced that Faye had left Play; she was replaced by Swedish singer Emelie Norenberg. Later that year, it was announced that Faye was the newest artist signed to Hybris, a Scandinavian record label. Hamlin is working on a solo album with Swedish producer duo, Montauk. She released her first single, Come to Me for digital download in Sweden and in the United States on February 29, 2012. The single showed a new direction for Faye that was more mature and complex electropop than her previous work.

In late May 2012, Faye signed with Best Fit Records, a record label in the UK, under the new name "Faye" (previously Fanny). Her second single, Water Against The Rocks was released in the UK on June 25, 2012. The official music video for Water Against The Rocks premiered on May 28, 2012 on The Guardian's official website.

On 20th September 2012 Best Fit Recordings announced two new singles 'Mad Dog' and 'Breathe Out' stating: "Like previous single, the electro-ballad powerhouse ‘Water Against The Rocks’, both ‘Mad Dog’ and the forthcoming ‘Breathe Out’ were produced by Stockholm based production duo Montauk. Expect more soaring, euphoric vocals and solid, rousing beats a-plenty." they also announced five UK dates throughout October 2012.
