Denis Sanacore, grandson of a Sicilian emigrant, was born in Montreal on December 22, 1967. As a child, he developed an interest for the violin and became fascinated by this instrument after watching the French television program “Poly à Venise”.
?
By the time he was a teenager, he was already a self-taught guitarist and had grown a passion for folk rock music, being influenced by musicians such as Willie Nelson, James Taylor, John Denver and Joni Mitchell and many others.
?
Denis Sanacore studied Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, where he specialized in music. Over the last twenty years, he has been part of a guitar and violin duet with his wife and music partner Rachel Carreau, who is a violinist and a pianist.
?
In 2012-2013, he made his debut in the film music industry when renowned filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet asked him to compose the track of his upcoming movie “The Young and Prodigious Spivet”, having heard a few of Denis Sanacore’s compositions on mySpace.
?
His minimalist style is melody-oriented, focused essentially on the guitar or accompanied by a few strings, percussions and harmonica.
