by Jason AnkenyThe postmodern soul unit Khaleel was led by frontman Bob Khaleel, a former rapper who recorded a 1992 album Grandma's Ghost under the name Bronx Style Bob. With guitarist and songwriting partner John O'Brien, he next formed the groove rock band Super 8, releasing a self-titled LP in 1996; the group disbanded soon after, but Khaleel and O'Brien continued their collaboration, christening their new band in honor of the former's surname and releasing People Watching in 1999.
