by William RuhlmannSean Altman grew up in the Bronx and took violin lessons as a child. He began performing professionally at the age of 17 in a duo called Moon Pudding. While attending Brown University, he sang with a rock band, the Blind Dates, and an a cappella octet, the High Jinks. In 1986, he founded the a cappella group Rockapella, which gained national recognition through the PBS ary Spike Lee & Co.: Do It A Cappella. The group spent five years as regulars on the children's TV series Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?, for which Altman wrote the theme song, and released nine albums. Altman left the group in 1997 and launched a solo career with his self-released debut album Seandemonium.
