Jimmy Robbins (born James Michael Robbins on September 3, 1989 in Raleigh, North Carolina) is an American singer-songwriter. He plays guitar and was formerly known as Too Sorry For Apologies. Jimmy taught himself how to play the guitar at age 8 with a guitar he found at his grandmothers house and wrote his first song when he was 11. Jimmy's mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and she died when he was about 14 years old. He says she is the reason he began writing music because it was the only way he could communicate.
A few years after his mother died, his father was diagnosed with cancer. Naturally, he wrote a song about it called "Surgery" (which was included in his album See Through Secrets). Before his mother passed, she made his dad promise to take care of their kids, so he wrote the song as if his parents were talking to each other. Jimmy has stated many times that he didn't choose music, but music chose him. His music deals with deep issues, such as his mothers passing, family, and girls. He has listed Tom Petty as one of his favorite musicians and as one of his musical influences.
His first solo project as a musician was under the name Too Sorry For Apologies. He gained a big fan base online through websites such as MySpace and PureVolume, which prompted him to write and self-released his first LP Sleep The Pain Away in 2005. He then went on to self-release his EP Too Sorry For Apologies in 2006. In October 2007, Jimmy signed to Universal Motown Records. He began work on a full-length album and toured with several musicians and bands such as The Scene Aesthetic, William Tell, and Making April between 2007-2009. During the summer of 2009, Jimmy toured with a full band on Radio Disney's dTour before joining Mitchel Musso's tour as an opening act along with KSM.[3] His band members were Matthew Broadbent (bassist), Claudio Rivera (drummer), and Will Caesar (lead guitar). Jimmy's major label album See Through Secrets was to be released in 2009 but kept getting pushed back. The album was then digitally released on September 8, 2009 with the hardcopy album to be released later. However, Jimmy was released from Universal Motown Records before the hardcopy was released. There were two singles released from the album, "Turn It Up" and "Gonna Get Better". A music video for the latter was made and can be viewed on his YouTube page. Turn It Up and Gonna Get Better charted on Radio Disney's Top 30 Countdown at #7 and #16 respectively. Jimmy has begun cowriting and producing with and for other artists as of 2010. His works include "Satellite" and "WIthout You" off of Action Item's "The Stronger The Love" ep, "Really Gone" for the band Memphis High, cowriting "I'm Invisible" with Bryan Todd and Jordan Pruitt released by Disney NBT's Tay Barton, as well as cowriting and producing "Long Distance", "Run Away" and "Old School Love" for YouTube musicians Megan and Liz. Recently, Jimmy produced 4 out of 5 songs on the new Alexz Johnson EP "Skipping Stone" and cowrote 3 of the 5 with Alexz.
