Whether in his role as composer, producer, collaborator or performer, Marc Canham’s talents have proliferated the genre of video game soundtracks since 2000, accounting for over 70 million units sold worldwide. From his most recent work scoring his debut feature film ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’, to the haunting ‘Far Cry 2’ soundtrack, to his earlier work on the ‘Driver’ series, to the cult hit ‘Getaway: Black Monday’, Marc has written music that has challenged expectations delivering filmic landscapes built on an elegant twisting of musical genres.
In his early twenties, Marc performed around the UK’s live circuit in an experimental audio visual act. The focus of this project was to not only be an intense live music show but to deliver a cinematic experience challenging the senses with abstract lighting and filmed visual effects. In 2000 he joined Rich Aitken in the underground and experimental band Narco and went on to release a critically acclaimed album ‘Control of the Stereo’.
In 2001 Marc and Rich formed Nimrod Productions, setting up a recording facility in the Oxfordshire countryside. This studio setup is a nerve centre of creativity, with the latest technology sitting alongside vintage analogue music equipment and flashing boxes! In 2002 Marc co-founded the NSO - a world class session orchestra. The NSO was the world’s first orchestral team specifically set up for the needs of the video game industry. Throughout the last 8 years Marcand his production company has attained a status of being a priority choice for top game companies such as Ubisoft, EA, Sony Computer Entertainment, Disney Interactive, Atari, Take2 and Eidos, working on a plethora of high profile titlesincluding Split Second, Far Cry 2, Killzone 2, Battlefield: Heroes, The Getaway: Black Monday, Driver Parallel Lines, Heavenly Sword, 24: The Game, Act of War, and Reservoir Dogs.
Marc has become a leading composer and producer in the world of video game soundtracks and since the formation of Nimrod Productions and the NSO he has teamed up with some of the finest, most exciting talent in his field. He can best be described as a “hybrid composer”, acknowledging the important part technology plays in modern composition. To date he has worked on over 60 projects which demonstrate the versatility of his unique and creative talent.
