Manika (born Manika Ward on August 2, 1993) is a Filipno-American singer-songwriter and author of Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian and Spanish descent. She is prominent among a new wave of Las Vegas-based music acts influenced by artists' multi-ethnic backgrounds. In 2011, she performed as part of the Shop 'Til You Rock Tour and appeared at the American Music Awards.
From an early age, Manika was interested in music, singing and teaching herself piano and guitar, though she was very shy. A graduate of The Henderson International School, she won three straight outstanding performance awards at the National Performing Arts Festival in New York City. She graduated from high school a year early to pursue her career. Her debut single "Just Can't Let You Go" played at radio stations internationally. Additionally, she wrote the children's book "The Exciting Adventures of Boo," the proceeds of which went to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Manika's production team includes vocal and performance coach CeCe Sammy, the late manager Frank DiLeo, and producer and choreographer Travis Payne. Manika is currently touring with One Direction on their US Up All Night tour.
