Celien Schneider is from Sion – Switzerland. He grew in the county of Valais, which is in the south of the country, surrounded by the Alps.
Like this country, Celien’s family is a real melting pot: one of his grandmothers is French whereas the other is Italian. Both of his grandfathers are from Switzerland but one is French-speaking and the other Swiss-German.
Coming from the Austrian Schneider family, settled in Switzerland for many years, the Swiss-German grandfather has always been very fond of music and is probably one of Celien’s most important role model.
Himself composer and musician, he guided Celien towards music.
But let’s not forget Celien’s father who used to hum songs along with his guitar. With his father, Celien discovered the Beatles, Elvis Presley or Bob Dylan among many others. All those great artists’s music has influenced Celien’s writings.
Even if he did grow up alone and far from big cities where the music is very influent, he hang onto everything he heard to extend his knowledge. He has always had music in his life and started piano and singing lessons at the age of 7 with his town’s choir.
Growing up, Celien got tired of classical piano. Despite his parents’s disagreement the 15-year-old young men decided to stop his piano lessons and began to explore one of his other interests: acting.
But finally got back to his first love but in a different way: throughout the years, he realized piano has many facet’s and can be played in other ways than the classical one, leaving behind the “studious” playing.
He has never left it again and piano has become this favorite instrument. Celien’s musical world now revolves around it.
At the same time, Celien continued to study – which he considers a great deal – and passed his A-Levels in 2004.
Once graduated, he moved to Lausanne and started literature courses to finish them in Paris in 2009 with a master degree in classical literature.
